RNA EXTRACTION AND

QUALITY CONTROL

The RNA extraction from a tissue, from cultured cells or from biological samples is an essential phase for successful transcriptomic analysis and for result interpretation. The good quality of RNA samples relies on the good conditions in which the extraction is performed. This quality will guarantee the later success of your experiments. In order to guarantee optimal results, Bioalternatives offers to pay for the RNA extraction phase of your samples and to perform the RNA quality control.

Types of treated samples

QIMA Life Sciences can perform the RNA extraction step from:

Recommendations:

When sending samples, it is essential to take the necessary precautions so as to avoid degradation during transport; dry ice packaging is recommended. If sending tissues, preliminary RNAlater treatment is advised.

Extraction step

QIMA Life Sciences can perform the total RNA extraction step of your samples in a standard way.

Bioalternatives can also perform extractions in a more specific way:

  • miRNA
  • mRNA
  • DNA

Applications:

Quality control of RNA

The quality of extracted RNA depends on the conditions in which the samples have been prepared, collected and stored. Once the RNA extraction step is performed, samples require qualitative and quantitative control.

    • The quantity of extracted RNA is determined by spectrophotometry (Nanovue™ spectrophotometer, GE Healthcare)
    • The quality of extracted RNA is measured by capillary electrophoresis, using the Agilent® Bioanalyzer 2100. The level of RNA quality is linked to an INR value determined by the device: the closer this value is to 10, the better the RNA quality is.
